Fiber Line
Technically, your fiber line is a fiber-optic cable that serves as your direct connection to TWN’s larger fiber network. Fiber-optic cables are made of hundreds of small strands of glass core fibers. Light signals travel along these fibers to transmit large amounts of data at quick speeds. Your fiber line will run from the street to your home and will be buried underground. You will have the opportunity to review the path of your fiber line and make adjustments before it is buried.

NID (Network Interface Device)
Mounted outside your home, usually near the electrical meter, the NID links the fiber-optic cables provided by TWN to your home’s internal wiring, allowing your devices to access the internet seamlessly. Additionally, the NID provides protection for fiber-optic connectors and splices from the weather.

ONT (Optical Network Terminal)
Once your NID has been placed outside, a technician will run a fiber cable inside your house and connect it to another small box located near your Wi-Fi router known as the ONT. Installed inside your home, the ONT converts light signals from the fiber line into electrical signals your devices can use. It’s the bridge between TWN’s network and your internet service.

Wi-Fi Router
TWN also provides a Wi-Fi router to distribute your internet connection wirelessly throughout your home. It connects directly to the ONT and enables multiple devices to be online simultaneously.

Mesh Extender (Optional)
For larger homes or hard-to-reach areas, a mesh Wi-Fi extender is available for purchase to help boost your Wi-Fi coverage. It works by receiving the signal from your main router and rebroadcasting it to areas of your home where the signal may be weak or non-existent, such as backyard patios, garages, or outside workshops.

Digital Phone Service (Optional)
Did you know that TWN also offers digital phone service? This service uses your internet connection to make and receive calls, as well as provides many convenient features like call forwarding, call waiting, automatic redial, voicemail to email, and more. When you sign up for a 100 Mbps plan or higher, you can bundle TWN’s digital phone service for only $10* per month!
